My baby boy is 22 months old. The doctor I am seeing now says that he will need a tube in his ear this week. I have been told since his birth that he has a hearing problem, but the first doctor said that it was not fluid in his ear because he would have seen it with the extensive testing that was done. That was when he was an infant. Now this new doctor is saying that she can only tell if there is fluid by putting a hole in his eardrum. Then she can run further tests. Is this the only way that fluid can be found to be in his ear? This new doctor says that she can't run tests until after this procedure. Is this true?
