I know I e-mailed you on this privately and I hope you got the e-mail.
I also hope you're planning to take your child for at least a second opnion to see if there are other methods to test his ears and give you some feedback. I think this would be prudent before making any decisions.
As I said, if tubes are needed they can be a real help, but first you have to see if they are needed and make sure you're with a great surgeon. Bottom line is that you need to feel comfortable with the decision and that doesn't sound like it will happen until you get at least one more opnion.
